Reporting, Privacy & Safety

eNepali gives you simple controls to shape what you see, flag content that breaks the rules, and keep your account and data safe. This page explains how reporting, hiding, privacy, and account safety work on both the website (enepali.com) and the mobile app.

Hiding content you do not want to see

Sometimes a post, news item, or listing just is not for you. On the mobile app you can quietly remove it from your feed without telling anyone or flagging it for review.

Hiding only affects your feed. It does not report the content, and no one is notified.

Web vs App

Hiding a single item from your feed is a feature of the mobile app. On the app, each feed card has a small options button (the three-dot menu) that opens a sheet with Hide and Report. On the website, the content control you will see is Report (a small flag button in the action bar). Reporting on either platform also removes that item from your feed.

Hide something in the app

  1. Find the post, news item, product, or listing in your feed.
  2. Tap the three-dot options button on the card.
  3. On the sheet that appears, tap Hide (labeled "Remove post from your feed").
  4. The item disappears and you see a short confirmation: "Post hidden from your feed."

The sheet also includes an About option (shown as "About [name]") to learn more about who posted the content, and a Report option if the content is not just unwanted but actually against the rules. A short "Hide vs Report" help link at the top of the sheet explains the difference.

Reporting content

When something is spam, abusive, false, or otherwise against community rules, you can report it so the eNepali team can review it. Reporting is available on both the website and the app.

You need to be signed in

Reporting requires a signed-in account. In the app, if you tap Report while signed out, you will be prompted to sign in first. On the website, the Report button only appears when you are signed in — as a guest you will not see it at all.

How reporting works

Report something in the app

  1. Tap the three-dot options button on the item you want to report.
  2. Tap Report (labeled "Flag for review").
  3. Choose the reason that fits best. Available reasons are: Spam, Inappropriate, Harassment, False Information, Hate Speech, Violence, Nudity, Scam or Fraud, and Other.
  4. If you choose Other, a box appears where you can describe the issue in your own words.
  5. Tap Continue, review the summary on the "Submit Report?" screen, then tap Submit Report. (You can tap Go Back to change your choice.)
  6. You will see "Report submitted. Thank you for your feedback." When you report from your feed, the item is removed from it.

Report something on the website

  1. Open the item (for example a news article, post, product, event, gallery, or a review).
  2. Tap the Report button (a small flag icon) in the action bar.
  3. Choose a reason: Spam, Inappropriate, Harassment, Misinformation, Hate speech, Violence, or Other.
  4. Optionally add extra context in the Additional details box (this box is always available, whichever reason you pick).
  5. Tap Submit report.
  6. A confirmation appears with the heading Reported and the message "Thank you. This content has been hidden from your feed." Tap Done to close.

Web vs App

The app offers a few extra reasons (Nudity and Scam or Fraud) and asks you to confirm on a second screen before sending. The website keeps everything in one dialog and always shows the optional details box. On both platforms, the reason list and the optional description do the same job, and your report goes to the same review team.

Hide vs. report — which should I use?

  • Hide (app only) removes content from your feed only. Use it when something simply is not for you. No one is notified.
  • Report sends the content to moderators for review against community rules. Use it when content is harmful, misleading, or breaks the rules. Reporting also removes it from your feed.
tip

If in doubt and you are on the app, hide it. Save reporting for content that genuinely breaks the rules — spam, harassment, hate speech, violence, scams, or false information — so the team can act on it.

Blocking

eNepali does not currently offer a "block this person" feature. To manage unwanted content, use Hide (in the app) to remove individual items from your feed, or Report content that breaks the rules so the team can review it.

If someone is harassing you

Report the specific content using Harassment (or Hate Speech where it applies) so moderators can review and take action. For anything urgent or serious, you can also contact the eNepali team directly at the support email listed in the Privacy Policy.

Your privacy and your data

eNepali has a full Privacy Policy and Terms of Service you can read any time. On the website they live at the /privacy and /terms pages, linked from the footer. Both are available in English and Nepali.

What the Privacy Policy covers

The Privacy Policy is written in plain, numbered sections, including:

  • Information We Collect — personal information such as your name, email, phone number, date of birth, profile picture, and gender; account information such as your username and (encrypted) password; address and location data (location only if you grant permission); usage data; and device information including push notification tokens.
  • How We Use Your Information — to run and maintain the service, personalize your experience and content recommendations, send notifications, improve the app, keep the platform secure, and communicate with you about your account and support.
  • Data Sharing — eNepali does not sell your personal data. Limited data may be shared with third-party service providers (such as cloud hosting, analytics, and notifications) only as needed to run the service and under confidentiality agreements.
  • Data Security — sensitive data is encrypted, and the platform uses secure server infrastructure and regular security assessments.
  • Your Rights — you can access your data, correct it, request deletion, withdraw consent, and export your data.
  • Account Deletion, Cookies and Tracking, Children's Privacy (services are not directed to children under 13), Changes to This Policy, and how to Contact Us.

What the Terms of Service cover

The Terms explain the agreement between you and eNepali, including Acceptable Use (for example, no unlawful, harmful, harassing, or misleading content, and no impersonation), your responsibility for your account, who owns the content you post, and how access may be suspended or terminated if the rules are broken.

Read them in your language

Keeping your account safe

A few habits keep your account and data secure.

Change your password

If you think your password has been seen by someone else, or you just want a stronger one, change it.

  1. On the app: open Account Settings, then tap Change Password ("Update your password").
  2. On the website: go to your profile's Security page. Enter your current password, then your new password, and confirm it.

You can also change your username from the Security page on the website.

Web vs App

The website's Security page groups your username and password changes together. In the app, Change Password is one of the cards inside Account Settings. Both update the same account.

Good safety habits

  • Keep your login details private and use a strong, unique password.
  • Make sure your account information (email and phone) is accurate so you can recover access if needed.
  • Report content that tries to scam or deceive you using the Scam or Fraud reason (app) or Spam / Other (website).

Deleting your account and data

You can request deletion of your eNepali account whenever you choose. It is available in both places.

Delete from the app

  1. Open Account Settings.
  2. Tap Delete My Account.
  3. Read the "What happens next" summary, and optionally add a reason.
  4. Tap Delete My Account, then confirm on the pop-up.
  5. You are signed out immediately, and your deletion request is submitted.

Delete from the website

  1. Go to the Delete My Account page (linked from the Privacy Policy, or at /delete-my-account).
  2. Sign in if you are not already.
  3. Optionally enter a reason.
  4. Tap Request Account Deletion and confirm the pop-up.
  5. Your account is deactivated and you are signed out.

You can cancel a pending request

On the website, if you already have a deletion request in progress, the page shows when you submitted it and gives you a Cancel deletion request button in case you change your mind.

What gets deleted and what may be kept

When your account is deleted, the following are removed from active systems:

  • Your profile information (name, email, phone number, date of birth, profile picture)
  • Your username and login credentials
  • Your preferences and notification settings
  • Your bookmarks and saved content
  • Your push notification tokens

Some information may be kept for a limited time for legal and safety reasons:

  • Transaction and activity logs — kept for up to 90 days for fraud prevention and legal compliance.
  • Content you posted publicly (posts, comments, reviews) — may be anonymized rather than deleted, to preserve community content.
  • Anything the law requires to be retained, for as long as legally required.
Deletion is permanent

Once processed, your account is deactivated and your personal data is removed from active systems, and you would need to sign up again to use eNepali. Consider whether hiding content or adjusting your preferences meets your needs before deleting.
