Your Profile & Settings
Your profile is your home base in eNepali. It's where you set your name and photo, tell us what you're interested in so your feed and news feel more relevant, save the places that matter to you, and control your language, theme, and security. This page walks you through the settings on both the website (enepali.com) and the mobile app.
Getting to your profile

- Sign in to your eNepali account. Most profile settings are only available once you're signed in.
- Open your profile:
- On the web: go to the Profile section.
- In the app: tap the Profile tab at the bottom.
You'll see a card at the top with your photo and name (plus your @username if you've set one). On the web, this card also shows your email. Below the card are grouped sections for your personal information, settings, and your activity.
The two versions are organized differently. On the web, each setting has its own page — Edit Profile, Addresses, Qualifications, Preferences, Security, Social Accounts, and Delete Account. In the app, your name, username, gender, photo, and all three addresses are edited together on one Profile screen, and the rest lives under User Preferences and Appearance.
Setting up your basic profile
This is your name, photo, and contact details.
Your photo
- On the web: click your profile photo at the top of the Profile hub, choose an image from your device, and it's uploaded and saved right away.
- In the app: open the Profile screen (see below) and tap the photo at the top of that screen to pick a new one. It uploads as soon as you choose it.
On the web, photos work best as a JPG, PNG, or WebP image. In the app you can also remove your photo to go back to the default person icon.
Your name and contact details

- Open the edit screen:
- On the web: open Edit Profile from the Personal Information section.
- In the app: tap Profile under Personal Information.
- Fill in your details:
- First name and Last name (both required)
- Email (required)
- Phone (optional)
- Save your changes.
The app shows a few extra fields on this same screen: an optional Username (with an @ in front) and an optional Gender dropdown, followed by your addresses. On the web, your username lives on the Security page instead, and your addresses have their own page.
If you set a username, it must be 2 to 30 characters and can only use letters, numbers, dots, and underscores. It can't start or end with a dot or underscore, and can't have two of those in a row. On the web Security page, eNepali also checks whether a username is available as you type.
Managing your addresses
eNepali lets you save up to three addresses. These help personalize your feed and show you nearby businesses, events, and local content.
The three address types are:
- Residential — your home address
- Office — your work location
- Birth place / Address in Nepal — your address in Nepal (useful if you're a non-resident Nepali)

On the web:
- Open Addresses from the Personal Information section.
- Use the tabs at the top to pick which address you're editing: Residential, Office, or Birth place.
- Choose your Country, then your State / Region (shown when the country has states), and fill in City, Address Line 1, Address Line 2, and Postal Code.
- Drop a pin on the map to set your exact location, if you like.
- Save your changes. Each address is saved on its own.
In the app:
- Open the Profile screen and scroll to Address Information.
- Tap one of the three boxes — Residential Address, Office Address, or Address in Nepal — to open its form.
- Pick your Country and State, then start typing your City to get location suggestions, and fill in the address lines.
- For your Address in Nepal, the country is locked to Nepal, and you can tap Copy Same Address to copy your residential details across.
- Save at the bottom of the screen, along with the rest of your profile.
Addresses and phone number are optional. You can use eNepali without filling them in, and add them later whenever you want.
Education, work, and qualifications
You can add your education history and work experience to your profile.

- On the web, open Qualifications from the Personal Information section.
- Switch between the Education and Work Experience tabs. Each tab shows a count of how many entries you have.
- Tap + Add Education or + Add Work Experience.
For Education, you'll fill in:
- Education type — Below SLC, SLC / SEE, +2 / Intermediate, Bachelor's, Master's, PhD, or Training / certification
- Institution (required)
- Degree (optional)
- Start date (required) and End date (leave End date blank if it's ongoing — it will show as "Present")
For Work Experience, you'll fill in:
- Job title (required)
- Company (required)
- Start date (required) and End date (blank means "Present")
- Description (optional)
To remove an entry, tap Delete on its card and confirm.
When a tab is empty, you'll see a friendly prompt like "No education records yet." or "No work experience yet."
The Education and Work Experience section is available on the website. It isn't offered in the mobile app, so add these details from enepali.com.
Social account links
On the website, you can link a Google or Apple account so you can sign in more easily.

- Open Social Accounts from the Account Settings section.
- For a provider that isn't linked yet, tap Link account and follow the sign-in prompts.
- Once linked, you'll see the connected account's name and email.
- To disconnect, tap Unlink account and confirm.
Only the providers eNepali currently offers will appear here. If none are available, you'll see a message saying so — nothing is wrong with your account.
Choosing your interests and preferences
Your preferences shape what you see across eNepali — especially your news and feed.

Open your preferences:
- On the web: open Preferences from the Account Settings section.
- In the app: open User Preferences from the Settings section.
Here's what you can set:
- News categories — Tap the category chips to turn each topic on or off. The ones you pick help decide which news shows up for you.
- Distance unit — Choose Kilometers or Miles for how distances to businesses and events are shown.
- Companies you follow — See a list of the businesses and organizations you follow, with a quick way to view each one.
On the web, choose your categories and distance unit and then tap Save Changes at the bottom (this page also includes a theme switch and a Share option). In the app, tapping a news-category chip applies right away, and you save the App Language and Distance Unit with the Save button (or the save icon in the top bar).
The app's preferences screen adds an App language dropdown right on the same screen, under General Settings. On the web, language is a quick flag toggle at the top of most profile pages, and the light/dark theme is set on this Preferences page.
Language: English or Nepali
eNepali works in both English and Nepali, and switching is quick.
- On the web: look for the small flag icon at the top of most profile pages. Tap it to switch between English and नेपाली (Nepali). It flips instantly.
- In the app: open User Preferences and choose your App Language from the dropdown (English or Nepali), then save.
Whatever language you choose is remembered, so eNepali greets you in your preferred language next time.
Theme: light or dark mode
You can make eNepali light, dark, or have it follow your device.

- On the web: open Preferences, find the Appearance section, and pick Light, Dark, or System. "System" follows whatever your computer is set to.
- In the app: open Appearance from the Settings section. Choose System Default, Light Mode, or Dark Mode. Your choice takes effect right away.
Security settings
This is where you manage your username and password.

On the website, open Security from the Account Settings section. You'll find two things:
- Username — Set or change your public
@username. eNepali checks availability as you type and tells you if it's taken. - Change password — Enter your Current password, then your New password, and confirm it. Tap Change Password to save.
In the app, your username is edited on the main Profile screen, alongside your name.
Always keep your password private. eNepali will never ask for it outside these secure screens.
Deleting your account and signing out
- Sign out — At the bottom of your Profile screen, tap Logout. You'll be asked to confirm, then returned to your feed as a guest.
- Delete account — On the website, open Delete Account from the Account Settings section. You can add an optional reason, and you'll be asked to confirm before the request goes through.
Deleting your account removes your profile and can't be undone. If you only want a break, signing out is the safer choice.
Your activity shortcuts
From the Profile screen you can also jump straight to the things you've saved and manage:
- Bookmarks — your saved posts, news, and businesses (available on both web and app)
- Notifications and Kura-Kani messages (on the web)
- Manage organizations if you run a business or organization page (on the web)
- Personal Referral — share eNepali with your friends (in the app)
- Show app tips again — replays the little in-app tips if you'd like a refresher
